Prototype 6

Prototype 6: Small toilet seat

For small people this toilet seat sits comfortable but we don't know if this is also comfortable by using the prototype or to do the transfer.

Expected positive: nothing
Unexpected positive: nothing
Expected negative: She can't really find grip because of the small outer size.
Unexpected negative: The material can fold a bit, so the safety feeling is not Ok

Score: In comparison with the other prototypes, this is not handy and safe (1/10)

The biggest problem her is the transfer and the stiffness of the material, we can try to make this better..

Use:

Prototype 5

Prototype 5: Round shape with small hole

This is the actual size of a tabouret, very small but easy to make compact

Expected positive: The seating is comfortable because of the soft skin
Unexpected positive: How smaller the outside shape of the chair, how closer the chair can stand against the wheelchair. So the stability increases.
Expected negative: Outside shape is too small and whole is also too small
Unexpected negative: not stable anymore when leaning on 1 side

Score: In comparison with the other prototypes is the shape is bad (3/10) but she likes the soft seating (6.5/10)

The shape is not good so we leave this, the skin is something to think about.

Use:

Unnecessary prototype

Unnecessary prototype -> prototype 3 transformed

Because she don't use the handle, it's not necessary to test with both handles

Expected positive: More stability?

Expected negative: The place bethween the handles is to small to sit, you need to do a transfer over the one handle.

Prototype 4

Prorotype 4: U shape, used in the back

The U shape without the handles used conversely

Expected positive: nothing
Unexpected positive: nothing
Expected negative: The hole is not positioned on the right place
Unexpected negative: She sinks away with her back, the open space in the back isn't handy.

Score: in comparison with the other prototypes, this is not pleasant (2/10)

She indicates that she need a closed shape fot the hole. So it's not necessary to go deeper on this.

Use:

Prototype 3

Prototype 3: U shape with handle

Testing the U shape and the extra handles that could be added

Expected positive: nothing
Unexpected positive: nothing
Expected negative: She don't use the handles. With the handle, you lose space so the ouside shape should be bigger. The shape (U) for the hole is not comfortable.
Unexpected negative: Not that stable anymore: if you lean on the handle, the chair tilts. Handles are in the way of the seating. It's better to use your whole hand during the transfer.

Score: In comparison with other prototypes is this not good (3/10)

Maybe turning the U-shape is better? The handle isn't used, so we could leave that away.

Use:

Prototype 2

Prototype 2: small rectangle with small hole

Smaller outside size, this make it easier for us to create a compact chair, but is this still stable enough?

Expected positive: nothing
Unexpected positive: nothing
Expected negative: Outside shape is too small and the hole is also too small
Unexpected negative: not stable anymore when leaning on 1 side

Score: In comparison with later prototypes is this bad (2/10)

We don't need to go further on this, we can't adapt this prototype till it's good.

Use:

Prototype 1

Prototype 1: square shape with hollowed handles

First of all is the basic prototype stable enough? Then the size of the outside shape and the size of the whole is important. Also the handles.

Expected positive: chair is stable enough and outside shape is big enough
Unexpected positive: She don't really need the handles but they can be added to have more grip
Expected negative: already quite stable but this can still become better
Unexpected negative: the hole is not big enough, she feels her sitting bumps on the edge

Score: in comparison with later prototypes this prototype scores good (6/10)

This prototype is  quite good, so later we adapt this (for example the size of the hole)
